Welder

Many consider welding an art form. There are many types of welding. Depending on the metals being joined, the usage of the finished weld and the conditions under which the work needs to be done, welders use different systems and tools.

The most common form of welding is arc welding. Two metal pieces are joined together using the heat generated by electrical current and a welding rod that provides not only the molten metal to bond them, but a 'flux' material. When heated, flux vaporizes and surrounds the work with an inert gas that protects the weld from environmental impurities and overheating that might weaken the bond or the metal being joined.

Welders need technical expertise and working knowledge of metallurgy and the tools and techniques required by different metals.
