Foreman

This entry-level management position requires strong working knowledge of construction processes and specialized crafts. A construction foreman is responsible for a number of workers on a given site tasked with a certain aspect of the overall project. The foreman must coordinate and motivate a construction team to successfully lay out and complete work, often leading by example. Quick, clear thinking and decision making, strong leadership skills and an ability to communicate effectively are hallmarks of a successful foreman.

With success and experience as a foreman, a construction professional is in a good position to advance to a higher supervisory position.
